So, we had sooooo much fun with our summer list (which I promise to update evenutally) that I decided to come up with a fall list, too!

I absolutely love the fall season.

And, here is our FALL LIST…

OK, so there is a lot on this list that we will accomplish…it’s pretty short.

I will update you this week on how we did on our Summer List.

the little guy said

Last night when I was snuggling with the little guy I asked him who he thought he would play with at school tomorrow.

He replied, “Josiah.”

I replied, “I am happy to hear that. What about James and Jaiden.”

“Uh-huh, ” he said.

“Oh, any what about Lucy and Emily?” I asked, thinking I should add in some girl names.

“You know I play with Lucy and Emily,” the little guy chuckled.

“Yeah, you’re right. They are cute,” I said.

“Emily is the cutest.”

He actually has a “cutest” out of the girls.

My heart melted.

And, Emily is VERY cute.

She sat in my lap when the teacher read a book when I visited their class last year.

Lucy is VERY cute, too.

home is…getting into my little guys head and heart when there are no distractions.

funny feet

Today was the little guy’s first sharing day at preschool…

Monday afternoon the little guy and I came up with a list of things that start with the letter “F”.

Tuesday, we did an online search for images of those words.

I also looked through photos of the little guy to see if there were some of him with things that start with “F”.

I cut out the photos and images, glued them to colored construction paper, taped a ribbon to each and tied the ribbon around a hair elastic (they get really stretched out from my hair). I put the hair elastic around the top of a pair of boots and voila!

funny feet

friends and fresh flowers

fire, football and foot

family

four fingers, fall and french fries

family fun at the farm last fall

feather, fishing and fox

fireman, fire and four years old!

FUNNY FEET!

batman vs. joker

The little guy LOVES Batman.

It all started when he got a huge tub of Matchbox cars from the boys next door. His favorite car, out of hundreds, was a Batmobile. I told him all about who drove the Batmobile and we slowly grew the obsession.

{I have to admit that Batman is my favorite superhero, too. I used to watch “Batman: The Animated Series” after high school in the 1990′s.}

One day this summer the little guy and I did a fun project while the baby girl was napping.

He bought a black and white checkerboard gameboard at a garage sale and kept wanting to play his “new game”. I kept telling him that it didn’t have game pieces and that we would need to make some.

So we did.

Here are the supplies we used:

I had all of these supplies on hand to make glass bead magnets for Christmas gifts when the little guy was a baby.

  • circle craft punch
  • flat glass marbles
  • magnetic sheeting
  • modge podge
  • scissors

I found images for Batman and the Joker online and resized them to fit the glass marble (about 1″ x 1″). I printed about 16 per 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet of paper and cut them out using the circle craft punch.

I also cut circles out of the magnetic sheeting.

I slathered one side of the magnetic sheeting with modge podge…

…placed the Joker or Batman logo on the magnetic sheeting…

…slathered the flat side of the flat marbles with more modge podge…

…and made a magnetic sheeting, logo, flat marble sandwich. I did this 14 times for Batman and 14 times for the Joker.

I placed all of them under a BIG, HEAVY book until the modge podge dried (the next morning).

After the arch enemies had a good nights rest under “The New Hunter’s Encyclopedia” I trimmed the magnetic sheeting that stuck out around the flattened marbles.

I also found a Batman vs. Joker image and modge podged it to the middle of the game board.

And, we play it like Checkers!

Of course, I am always the Joker.

And, the little guy is Batman.

home is…game time.

happy new year

My father in law wrote the following poem about the start of a new year being in the fall:

I agree. I always felt that the start of a new year was when school started.

I loved the anticipation of starting school.

I hope I can instill that love of starting something new in my kiddos.

As for the little guy he has been asking for almost two weeks when he gets to start school.

Today was the day.

He was up at 6:30 and said, “Can I go to school now?”

He had a great first day and I know this year will be a fantastic year for him…and our family!

He is in Pre-K at the same fabulous school that he attended last year. I wrote about choosing his school here.

I couldn’t be happier with the choice!

home is…the start of a new year.

whoo, whoo, whooo…

I’m back…

Well, just for a really quick post…then back to our official “last day of summer”!

Have I mentioned the owls that I hear almost every night in the Douglas Fir trees out behind our house? It is a calming, yet haunting sound to fall asleep to, or wake up to in the middle of the night. I am not sure what kind of owl they are, but I’d love to find out.

{I did send a crude recording of them to my family, and my dad, who knows a lot about wildlife seems to think they might be Great Horned Owls…cool, huh?}

And, wondering about the owls got me to thinking.

I know I have said that I write this blog for me.

I do.

I write for me because it feels good to do it.

I write for my children so they will have a written and photographic “history” of their childhood.

I write for the family (and friends) who we live far away from so that they can feel a part of our lives.

I also write for you. Whoever you may be and for whatever reason you may read.

I DO care who reads my blog.

And, I would like to know who you are.

Who, whoo, whooo…

Who are you?

You all know a lot about me, and I am a bit curious about you.

I can look at the stats on my blog and see just that “stats”, but I don’t get to see the real people behind those stats.

Can you all do me a favor?

Whether you are a first time reader, someone who reads everyday, or somebody who just stumbled across my blog looking for something else, please leave me a comment…

  • let me know who you are
  • how you came across my blog
  • why you read my blog
  • if you have a blog of your own, please let me know

I’m just curious.

home is…knowing a little bit about you.

summer’s last blast

So, while some of you are experiencing a quiet house with kids back in school, we still have a week of summer vacation left.

This last week of summer I am going to soak up the sun. Really enjoy the last full days I have with my kids before the “scheduled” days of the school year start.

I am going to take the week off from the computer…well, from being online.

I’m going to work on catching up with summer photos and posts…and maybe, just maybe, finish the photo album I owe our family from 2010.

We will also be celebrating baby girl’s 2nd birthday this week, so I need to give that the same attention that I gave the little guy when we celebrated his birthday earlier this summer at the beach.

I am not going to check Facebook, no tweets for me, no new posts on my blog, and the hardest will be not checking Pinterest or posting to Instagram.

{I will still be checking e-mail, so you can comment on this post or send me an e-mail and reach me}

Until Wednesday, September 14th.

I look forward to catching up with you all in a week!

Until then, here’s a recap of some of our summer fun…all from my iphone and instagram!

home is…savoring the last week of summer.
